I'm seeing life increasingly through a lens of my contribution toward goodness, life, and grace and then my efforts that take away from these things. I'm only one life, just like any of us. And I want my life to be given toward positive contributions of the whole. That's the way of Jesus of Nazareth, whom I'm patterning my life after. So it seems to me that being a citizen of the whole is a choice that you can't assume. And it's the path I've chosen to follow.

David, Jillian, and Conor - three cool kids

At the end of my life the greatest contribution I will have made toward anything is seen in my three treasured gifts from Above. Today, as I had a shaping conversation with my son David about his attitude toward Jillian, I was struck by the always "ON" posture I desire to have with my children. I mean, I don't stop shaping, confronting, and disciplining them. Every moment is an opportunity to invest in them... a word, an act, a prayer. It's a huge responsibility. It's a big commitment. And every moment requires the full intensity of love, passion, and hope for them. I wouldn't trade it for anything! Posted by Hello
