I'm seeing life increasingly through a lens of my contribution toward goodness, life, and grace and then my efforts that take away from these things. I'm only one life, just like any of us. And I want my life to be given toward positive contributions of the whole. That's the way of Jesus of Nazareth, whom I'm patterning my life after. So it seems to me that being a citizen of the whole is a choice that you can't assume. And it's the path I've chosen to follow.

Mother's Day gave me a moment of gratitude for Marcia and her role in loving, shaping, and caring for our children. I tried to do my part to show appreciation to her. In the course of the day I had several low points. (One of the highs was taking her to a good Thai Restaurant on Irving Street). But I also don't want to think of a day like this as something I turn on like a light switch. The people in our lives a worthy of appreciation and love every day. So if appreciation is measured in the quality of one day - God help us all. But I am thankful for Marcia - who she is and what she does. May I live that out even in the low moments.  Posted by Hello
